yeah i think its because of the regulations of the 1 hour distance record he is trying to break.
Still trying to exploit loopholes in the UCI regulations, I’m sure they’ll find something to disqualify him with.
Check out the TT length and axle - seatpost distance. The huge wheelbase, massive seat setback & long stem stretches him right out.
Bars are almost level with the saddle too. Stark contrast to Sosenka’s machine, but he’s very tall.

138 GI… thats 11 metres of development (distance per crank rotation), or 66km/h @ 100 rpm.
Which would imply that to cover 50km/h, he would be spinning at only 75 rpm… a bit slower than I thought would have been optimal.
that’s on average, the peak rpm would be a bit higher.
still weird though, maybe that gear is just for training… or maybe he plans to cover 60km!
also got a nice odd-numbered ratio… so he doesn’t go through too many tyres impressing the kids on the streets with rad skidzzz…

have you seen ‘the flying scotsman’? it takes a little madness to do what he did… (and yes, i did think it was a bit crap in parts).
As much as it wouldn’t be worth a grain of salt, I’d love to see him dust off one of the old bikes and try breaking the non-legal record.
The UCI screwed Obree, Boardman and others around enough, so why play by their rules again?
The bike used by Rompelberg to break the world record bicycle speed had 35m of development, and hit 268.831km/h. Not bad huh?
