Camera for jersey pocket

designjerk where’s he at? he got a sony and it’s been excellent

maybe he doesn’t visit this far down the forum??

Gladwrappa made a good point when we were talking cameras. Quick boot to first photo is worth looking into for on the move shots. Also, waterproof would be good. Saves juggling a plastic bag or having it die from sweat.

saw someone with one of these out on the trails taking snaps.
was tiny and kind of interesting. not sure on the quality but she said it was good in the 5 seconds while i was riding by getting snapped.

I’ve been a fan of the Sony Cybershot W series cameras. Nice size, cheap and reasonable photo quality.

Fiar point but if you can’t afford the extra few hundered and want to try haggling it might a good deal

Thanks folks but at the moment I am thinking of getting an outdoor kind of camera, something that takes a beating so to speak. I’d love a RX100 but taking it with me on the bike I don’t know.

This is an awesome pic btw. Somehow peaceful.

Looks like they make different versions of the RX100 now so will I be happy with this one? What do you think and what do I tell my gf why this is better than the iPhone camera I already own?

They’re now up to the Mark IV.
Reasons why it’s better:
Much larger sensor equals better image quality.
Zoom lens.
Shoots raw so you get way more latitude when editing.
Up to 16 frames/second means you’ll be much more likely to get that perfect action shot while riding.

Sounds good to me so thanks for that. So you’d reckon I’be happy with that ‘‘entry level’’ RX100?

I’m not sure you’ll be able to get a new Mark I anymore. You’d probably be able to find a Mark III.

Whats this one?

Well there you go, you’re right. I didn’t think anybody would still be selling such an old camera.

Sorry, I know I am annoying but its still a good idea to buy such an old camera or would I be better advised to look after a MKII or III? I am on a budget but also don’t want to make a mistake down the road.

Sony rx100,
Its so small, I use it recklessly and its all beaten up and scratched to shit, sweat all over it, but it still does the job. I have the mkiii

The fuji x70 has tickled my interest recently though, BIG sensor!! APSC sensor in a pocket camera for about the same as the new rx100.

As has been mentioned, an older model will save $$ and its the same sensor, just new wizardry with the processor so it can shoot crazy fast, super slow mo etc. Not relevant to a lot of peeps. 10 frames per second burst in RAW for 20 shots on the mkiii is plenty.

with the sony:

There’s nothing wrong with it, and it’s not THAT old. It’s just been superseded by slightly better tech.
It still takes great pictures, and is arguably far better value than the newer ones that cost twice as much.
