January is the COGS Month of Singlespeed in Canberra and the first event is the show and shine.
Sunday Jan 8, 11am 'til 2
The COGS Show and Shine is your excuse to bust out that vintage 10 speed or meticulously colour coordinated fixie and come down to Lenox Gardens near the lake for a BBQ and a few refreshing ales (BYO).
Bring something to stand your bike up with (a tinnie under the pedal works) and $10 for entry and the BBQ (there will be vego options). Prizes will be awarded for:
Hi TwoD, the show and shine is about getting on down to the park for a bit of a gathering, perving on some nice bikes and generally loitering in good company. You don’t need a nice bike to have a good time, and there will be a few novelty events for those of that ilk. Indeed just as Cadel is a generalist and the Shlecks are climbers I myself am a novelty event specialist. It would be remiss of me not to throw a few track stand comps and grass crits in.
As for the rest of January there is going to be a glut of goings on around four main events which are described by expert men at CanberraOneGear.org.
We won’t be running an alley cat because achoo, HOWEVER there will be a beer league (beer league is alley cat’s hot older sister) on Sunday Jan 29.
Keep an eye on the website (has RSS) for up to date news, analysis and expert opinion on the upcoming COGS events.
