Female cyclist bashed on sunday night

check out p. 13 of today’s Herald Sun

Short version - riding home after dinner with friends in CBD, three guys walking along footpath towards her, one of them belts out, sacks her, and starts kicking her in the head. Two teenaged guys being driven home from a party by a parent come to her assistance and hold the assailant briefly but he got free and scarpered.

Cops couldn’t find the guy, although they detained two suspects briefly.

She’s (relatively) okay: http://www.bv.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10585&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Did someone declare open season on cyclists? Sheesh

Camberwell…notoriously dangerous neighbourhood. These days full of CUBs.

That’s terrible, I’m glad she’s not worse hurt physically but I can’t begin to imagine what she is thinking and feeling right now.
Now my husband is a little concerned for me and my love of night rides (I’ll have to convince him to join me as my protector).

I’ll be even more aware and wary of any people I see on my nights jaunts from now on.

i’m glad she’s ok.

i hate riding after 10 or 11 on friday and saturday nights, especially anywhere near the city. yuck!
you generally feel pretty safe riding (as opposed to walking) cause you feel you can get away fast from something/someone but as with this scenario, it’s not always the case…

stay safe everyone.

god theres some scum out there…

try riding through country towns at 4am on a weekend.

I’ve had verbal abuse and shit thrown at me. Even had a couple of lunges. Thankfully nothing that even comes close to what that woman went through. Absolutely shocking.
