Hey,
I just bought an old frame that i’m planning to turn into a fixed gear.
How do i find out what size bottom bracket it needs?
To anyone asking this question I would firstly suggest taking the frame to your LBS and aksing them to install one for you. This will save you some cash if you happen to buy the wrong one, and realise only after installing.
If you have the tools and want to it yourself then:
Measure the bottom bracket shell
Check the thread type
Measure the chain line, tips here: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/chainline.html
For example an english threaded 68-108 is a common track size: 68 is the width of the bottom bracket shell, 108 is the width of the axel.

ok,
I’ll probably just take it down to abbotsford then.
Thanks
sounds a bit crazy to me, turning a track frame into a fixed gear…
