I want a hip pack that is large enough to carry my digital SLR and a lens… and maybe an external flash. So basically something the size of a camera case… but in hip pack form. Any recommendations?
Does it need to carry your lock? Have extra pockets for change or random stuff? Does it need a d-ring for your keys?
Gimme more info son!
i have a lowepro photorunner. excellent size, easily adjustable and able to be used/worn a few ways. fits my 400d with lense on it, extra lense, spare batteries, touch, cables, extra sd cards and more and nots that big (in my mind anyway).

Thanks for the recommendations of the Lowepro stuff, looks great actually. That said, these look great for camera stuff, but aren’t designed with cycling in mind (I assume), so am still keen for other recommendations.
have riden with the photorunner also.
the design is very similar to the fuct waist bag.
dont you mean the fuct fanny pack
fanny is such a shit word
Dave (user RangDog) makes bags out of recycled materials (canvas, billboards, etc.). He’s just released a smaller bag that might fit the bill for you? It’s called the babycandy. It looks big in the photo but is actually nice and small. If it doesn’t suit he’d probably customise it for you if you ask nicely.
I think it’s around the $65 mark?
Another Aussie company doing recycled bags is Haul.
Because anything that comes out of Tasmania is da bomb (Errol Flynn, David Boon, Boags Beer, Blundstone…)
Tasmania FTW!
if you’ve got some (serious) cash there are Visvim Ballistic Lumbar 8l waistbags at Supply which might work
mitchell outdoors on lizabeth st has blue and black digi video camera bags with belt loops. i can fit my g10 and all my toolkit and pump in them, don’t think they’d fit an SLR and another lense, but the advantage is they’re only $23.
Serious cash? They look as if they came off the set of National Lampoon’s European Vacation.
^all bumbags look a little bit wank imo. not my choice but that kinda what he asked for
construction wise, that whole visvim ballistic set (messenger bags and backpacks) are seriously nice though
I’ve got one of those reload ones. I thought they were ugly as all hell when i saw them. But they are really useful, i just use it for the lockholder half the time, I don’t like those fabric horse belt lock holders coz they pull my pants down or get in the way.
