[Mel] Crankenmas Alleycat Sunday 21 Dec

In an adaptation of the ever popular Cranksgiving races across the USA we are bringing to Melbourne a race not just for you, but for others.

There’s no registration fee, but you’re going to need to bring cash with you, because the checkpoints are all grocery stores. At these grocery stores, you’re going to have to leave your bike outside, run in, and purchase** a specified food item. A bag & a lock is absolutely essential! Once you’ve collected all of the food items and have finished the race, we do a group ride to a soup kitchen & drop off all of our donations. Keep all of your receipts, because I’m going to check them to make sure you made it to each of the checkpoints.

Registration will be at 10:30 at the fountain south of the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens (Between Rathdown and Nicholson) Don’t go Jeff’s Shed - we won’t be there.

The race will start at 11:00. NOTE TIME CHANGE!!!

**Receipts will be used to make sure you’ve been to the right checkpoints and have actually purchased the items. NO STEALING.

Currently supported by Knog.

RAD. It’s gunna be mighty hot racing in a Santa suit that time of year.

How lucky are we that we already have an elf among us!

thats a killer idea for a race…

with mad skilz like that you wanna help me with a flyer?

when do you need a design finalised by?
i have a pending idea…

That guy is such a cunt, what a short fuck.

Hmm… which lock to use? I’m thinkin’ a chain and padlock rather than my Krypto mini.

no stealing? wtf? way to take the fun out of it!

looks like we’ve got knog on board. hitting up ab’d cycles tomorrow (spoke to pete today, he said come back with a letter.)

mtn goat also looking good, hope you guys like beer. there will be prizes for guys and chiccas as well as for most food donated. bring out the big bags!!

just quietly, please make sure you have vegan-friendly shopping lists available.

with regards to vegan friendly - I will endeavor to have vegan options, but as the food is for the soup kitchen it will be food that they need.

so i’ll do my best to work in vegan. it may be that vegans can get the same veggie options but from the different stores.

Some vegans dont like to even buy stuff with animals in, he means. Make him carry all the watermelons!

i was thinking of 5kg of potatoes at each store

in all honesty it’s likely that vegan options will be available. can we end the vegan discussion now?

can we end the vegan discussion now?

this is a great idea.

everyone seems clear. so…

+1.

I’m a vegan and I don’t like reading threads where people talk about purchasing groceries containing animal products
