if any one has a recommendation for a particular company. i need to get a bike sent from coffs harbour to melbourne.
i’ve tried some of the bigger courier companies and they wont deal with me because i dont have a business account with them.
my only other option i guess would be “pack and send” and i’m gussing they’re going to be expensive. just checked and they quoted me around $250. i dont understand that because my local bike store said they only pay about $70 per bike.

yeah i did just buy that colnago, could still be a bit risky. sitll haven’t had a decent look at the bike other than that tiny picture and i don’t have a clue what size it is. hopefully i’ll luck out
I looked at that bike but did not go any further when he did not respond to some questions I sent him.
Thought I would err on the side of caution when a guy with bugger all feedback (as a result of something he bought) turns up with a Colnago (and cannot even spell the name correctly), put up a tiny picture like that and then would not respond to my questions.
Mind you if everything goes your way you have a bargain.
He did reply to my email, he said it’s a 57cm, wheels are velocityaero rims, some funky looking red anno 180mm cranks. He had that thubnail on ebay then when he sent me some pics they were all massive closeups of parts of the bike.
What I could tell was that the hubs are low flange single sided nothing flash but the wheels look good as new (got your $270 there).
Frame has a few scratches in the stays that I could see but not bad looking at the track ends thaere is no paint damage to show the wheel has been in and out much, I was concerned that I couldn’t see any detail on the lugs to show it was a real Colnago but it has Colnago decals. Stem and bar look v-old, looks like hand engrave 3T on the stem, it and the HS are a bit scratched up. Saddle is off an old Giant complete with logo and the seatpost was all the way down so couldn’t see what it was. Anno on the cranks was faded a fair bit. crappy looking pedals with plastic cages.
Couldn’t talk mu CFO into letting me buy it based on the info available (the old youve already got 4 bikes etc etc.) but emailed the guy and was going to go and check it out if it was passed in. I’d normally go a 58 or 59 also.
As I said wheels look like you have your purchase cost covered and as long as the frame is OK you should be good.

Yes my wife. Bugged her for a cuple of days about it and have been keeping it going since. She knows if she gives one positive signal I’ll jump in and buy. This loss will make it easier to justify dropping some cash in the next couple of weeks to fix the touring/cyclocross bike at home.

just got the bike, i’m definitely happy with the price i paid, its a 55, not a 57 as the seller claimed, so that paid off for me.
velocity aeros (singles), bmx cranks and crap bb, giant seat, kalloy seatpost, shimano road forks, stronglight headset, non branded hubs.
not sure if the frame is a colnago (sticker job could be better), but th frame is in great condition, seems well built. has gipiemme dropouts and 54 stamped on the bb, if that means anything.
Greyhound was great. sent wed arvo from coffs and i picked it up this morning in melb. $65
