Other types of riders

Just wondering if anyone in the ACT on these boards ride other bikes apart from fixed/ss?

yes! I ride other bikes… lots of commuting on tourer, a bit of road riding on an aero bike and a fair bit of rigid SS mtb very slowly.
I dont have a fixed gear at the moment and am not missing it terribly, but I have a frame that is ready for bits… whenver they might come along.
I’m quite the tightarse.

Rigid SS MTB, crazy… where do you ride?

Hey. Good idea for a post.

I ride a SS 29er, mostly 24hr solo racing, and i probably ride once a week at the moment. I also have a Rohloff 29er for longer distance rides and touring.

I haven’t raced road since moving here this year but get out on the roadie about once a week.

Used to ride track but just converted my track bike into a street fixie so i have three now…i have cycle hoarding issues…

You can see most of my bikes on my blog (between all the drunken-ness). http://tyld.blogspot.com

Cheers.

That blog is great, some brilliant pics! I will have to pick your brain about that Orroral Tracking Station ride.

Me… I ride MTB mainly. I do the odd 24hr stuff (was at the mont… how good were the trails!!! and the last 7 Mont/Scott 24hrs), always in a team of six… none of this solo crap!

I also ride DH and have raced a bit of with CORC. My pics aren’t as good as yours sorry… alright, after looking through your blog again… I am really impressed with the pics. Is that a fulltime thing you do or a hobby?

Thanks man. I’m def not a professional but mixing bikes with photography is my favourite past-time. I’m thinkin’ about offering my services to do portrait type photos of people and their bikes, or just their bikes. So if anyone is interested let me know. (oh and it’s free, or maybe a beer at the wig afterward would suffice!!)

virusconspires is a great photog too, i linked to him here Ty's Blog: Saturday arvo fixie ride.

Cheers.

we should do some kind of narrabundah velodrome shoot one day, that’d be cool. Keirin style formations, team pursuit pics etc etc…

Haha, yeah def keen for that. Is it accessible on the weekends?

did i read correct…velodrome in narrabundah? where i must ride it.

yep, here is a link to the location!

As to whether it is open to the public on the weekends, not sure. There is mention on the CCC website for Sunday training & racing from 2-7, so outside of those times might be a goer.

Perhaps we could try to organise a cruise on a Saturday where it doesnt rain and people dont get attacked by volvos or seagulls beforehand…

Haha yeah who wouldda thought it’d be so hard to go for a ride!!

I’m down for a velodrome run, I live right around the corner from it too!
As luck would have it I gotta work this saturday though :stuck_out_tongue:

I have an XC bike that I take out pretty often. I don’t ride in comps or anything though.

where abouts do you ride?

Nice blog pal.

I don’t ride a fixie any more just single speeds. Got the commuter, and also ride a 29er ss mtb. Sparrow, majura and oconnor ridge is where you can find me riding.

You don’t happen to have a gary fisher 29r?

Nope, not me.

Long shot… I only rode bruce/o connor ridge for the first time the other day. It is riddled with ST over there! I will def be back!

On another note, just cleared this trip with the wifey:

http://www.brakeburner.co.nz/

yeah the ridge is awesome. Apart from sparrow’s it my favorite track in canberra!

i ride everywhere! i love majura, really like stromlo and like sparrow and bruce ridge… its funny how different riders like different trails. the grip, flow and tree cover of majura give it the win for me. the surface of bruce isnt what i really like to ride, but yeah, its a gem of a place that is on my commute. i’m hitting it tomorrow morn before office time. AND THAT IS WHY CANBERRA IS THE BEST CITY ON THE PLANET

i ride a 29r ss mtb. like it but front shox would make a diff i was to go ‘bush’.
