Yes, Quite off his tree.
He’s from Texas, and when we were in QLD for the Oz Uni rowing champs, he declared that shaving your sack and sprinkling (what he called) pixie dust on it was the best thing on earth.
Then at 1am one morning he decided to show the cops…
I know a guy who lives in Perth and regularly rides his motorbike across the Nullarbor…and loves it. Of course, he’s a bit of a nut too, in a good way.
You might think it’s like that but when you’re sitting on top of an engine in the summer it gets damn hot, especially if you’re smart enough to wear protective gear.
Good on him for the challenge but I would have picked a much more scenic way of doing 4,500km by bike. I’ve done it in the car a few times and there is NOTHING between perth and adelaide. just dead roos. Ks and Ks of dead, rotting roos.
There are a few really nice spots, especially along the Bight, but in my opinion, wouldn’t even come close to making up for the weeks of nothing in between. I’m all in favour of crazy long treks (i’m planning on doing alaska to argentina next year) but I would start in adelaide and go to cape york or something if you’re looking to make up the kms. best of luck though. it’s going to be tough.
Thats one a mate and I have been gassbagging about for years.
I’m going to be living in Canada from May onwards.
perhaps I might join you for a bit of it. Either way, you’ll have to look me up (I’m assuming you going to do the west coast route)
Yup, will be there.
One way tickets from Oz to LA, via Fiji.
Purchase car, drive to Vancouver.
No idea how long we’ll be there.
If you need a place to stay, I’ll volunteer the couch that we don’t yet own…
Awesome. We were hoping to get people to join us for various legs of it. It’s going to take us long enough as it is without having to meander along the east cost =D
