The Kumo is now set up as a flat bar roadie with a custom front rack thanks to Keith. It was great for summer commuting and even some local climbs. I don’t miss the drops at all.

When you wear those tyres out you should go even wider.
Giant Defy 2022 but frame cracked and replaced in 2023.
New Ryet carbon 50mm wheels with Pirelli P Zero Road TLR tyres.
New Ryet T60S saddle which has replaced SMP Well saddle. I have lost over 10kg since purchasing Well saddle and wanted something similar but narrower at the front. This one works for me.
Also added 16mm pedal extenders as my shoe rubs center of crankset. Didn’t know these existed until recently.

This morning on FB I was reminded that I’ve now had my Vivente World Randonneur for 9 years now, the pic below is when I had just picked it up from Omafiets in Sydney when they were at their Redfern shop.
I never really got to tour on it although that was my dream but life got in the way of many things as usual but it was a damn fine commuter which had it’s dynamo hub firing up the Axa 70 lights front and back, still has it’s original Schwalbe Marathon tyres too.
Since Covid, Shimano dropped their 3x 9 gearing sets as well as the Dura-ace bar end shifters, I really like this set-up like the touring bikes of yore so now the Vivente Touring bikes are all set up with Rolhoff hubs and Gates belt drives and cost around $7,000, I’d love to get one but at 66, I couldn’t really justify it. I’ll be keeping this baby till I can’t ride anymore.
