Shimano pre-index mech in an index setup

I have a 600 Arabesque rear derailleur that I’d like to use in an 8 speed indexed setup. Is the shift ratio the same as indexed derailleurs?

Can anyone save me the trouble of trying it out?

Should be fine ATMO, but I’m not 100% sure. Suck it and see eh.

No. That’s why it’s pre SIS. Not constant leverage.
