Go to the island or cape paterson near wonthaggi before hitting up killy. In 20 years I have seen it small enough for a real beginner maybe less than ten times.

When I first moved to Sydney, I surfed through winter in a springy, thinking Specoli like of my peers. After three years + there and the same in WA I came back to Vic a cold water wimp. It’s taken me a couple of years to get back into the joy of the chill.
Well I did most of my surfing in Auckland when I was growing up - when I came to Vic I couldn’t believe how warm the water was…
