The bmx thread

<3 northcote!
and just realized that i rode with you a few times there… before i bent my frame :frowning:

Oh really? What did you ride?

seems you know alot iwearmoccos about bmx, quick question for you. i was looking at some old school photos and i think i deen a kenevans frame, have you any info on this. i emailed kenevans but no response. photo was circa 89/90

i think i SEEN

I bet it wasn’t one of two only Perkins BMXs

The only GT I still have is a yellow triple triangle BMX.

must have been the other one, yellow/blue/pink fade

grey GT calafia with chrome profiles, chrome 7KA’s on black eclat hubs etc…
and my mate would have been riding a white subrosa armada with black primo hollowbites and other black shit.

Can you bunny hop already? That is always the biggest stumbling block for most adults starting bmx. Without a bunny hop, riding bmx is pretty much useless. As mentioned somewhere else, the bikes can feel very small if you go out and buy a cheaper complete and chances are it is. There is a huge size range in frames and bar height etc, so even though its not as drastic as road bikes, there is a bit of space to setup a bike to suit you. I’m a giant, if I can ride a bmx, then chances are anyone else can.
Adults don’t fall as well as kids and are usually more brittle, so that is something that holds adults back. The fact that most of us have to go to work the next day can have an affect on your learning curve.

I really have no idea, my interest is in modern bmx. I really don’t care too much for older bmx bikes.

For anyone wanting to remember the past, this is John Buultjens’ Haro collection.

FUN AND GAMES. - YouTube
I rode Berwick skatepark with a few friends today, so we made a little clip.

Guerilla waxing, boom! That park looks super fun. We have this little plaza here in Sydney that nobody ever goes to cause it’s in a bit of a nowhere suburb, similar to the one there. Little parks are the best!

It is really good when nobody is there. It got hectic mid afternoon and it meant a lot of snaking and dodging. The modern plaza skateparks look great, they just don’t offer many options for lines that don’t cross.
I’ve only been to this park a couple times because of its locality, there isn’t too much to ride in Berwick. What is the park in Sydney you’re referring to?

Pretty much have it to ourselves whenever we go there, and it’s rad to learn new stuff and even better for nibbles (i.e. everything I do).

And enjoyment, I rarely ride mine anymore purely because I’m to scared to get hurt. After a big fall ~5yrs ago where I had to spend 6months of any bike and another 6months of taking things very easy, now with a young family I cant afford time off work or constant pain. And that fear scratches at scabs on my soul.

Victoria road right?? Yeah, drive past all the time, always tempted to drop in.
