Personally I would love to see Euskatel win a grand tour, Igor Anton for the win, followed by Nibali and Wiggins. The Alto de Angliru is baaAaack.
There will be fireworks from a few teams worried about uci ranking points. BMC will surprise in the breaks I reckon.
This is the profile for stage 15.
That last climb is 12km long at an average of more than 10%. And there’s a bit near the top that supposedly hits 23%. Fun times.
do sbs show much coverage of the vuelta? can’t seem to find anything apart from the 30 minute slot from 5.30pm on sbs 1…
be happy that they are showing that.
really? surely they could get some TdF style commentary and flyover chat to boost the ratings? is cadel riding, that should help…*
*i’m not serious, he’s off training in north america or something yeah?
they are also showing 8 stages live with most of the big mountains covered and the finish in madrid
La Vuelta a Espana LIVE and exclusive on SBS : Cycling Central on SBS
wow, thats pretty good. Better than the Giro
EDIT: that link leads me to no info. Unless it’s an issue at my end?
exactly what i was looking for, thanks SMoL
its pretty much training, but he is over in colorado riding/reuniting with the schelcks and contador in the first tour of colorado/quiznos pro challenge/coors classic.
i cant imagine how much loot went into getting all of them over there. his season is pretty much done… and i wouldnt expect much out of the schlecks/conty but for those looking for a warmup to the worlds it should be great. im guessing a radioshack/garmin victory with some of the domestic us teams (realcyclist/united healthcare/etc) playing the role of the french teams in the tour (ie breakaway specialists).
is wiggo’s tour over in the first stage???
anton, menchov, sastre all out the back door in climbs and its only halfway through week 1.
Did Cav and Matty Goss get the I haven’t got a contract yet bug that’s going around ? I’m sure it hasn’t helped
Apparently it is sooo hot at the moment there.
I’m guessing they are pretty well getting/got a good contract elsewhere, so yeah prob decided for a late summer holiday.
ha ha, hadn’t thought about it that way, makes better sense!
hopefully one of them is going to greenedge, they are getting a good engine room but need a few more stars to make up uci points!
HTC has banned riders announcing new contract deals while the vuelta is on. I dare say it is all done and dusted.
Cav said that he was just way too fatigued. Will be interesting if Vuelta and UCI say it was injury related which would allow him to race Britain.
Green Edge will be fine on UCI points - they will likely be top dozen at the end of the transfer period.
Who the hell would want to ride around Spain in late summer anyway?
I was in Spain 6 weeks ago and the weather was brilliant… for drinking and lying on the beach, maybe not 6 hours in the saddle. it does not make watching the vuelta on my laptop at 1 am in a tracksuit in bed very easy.
where are you watching it? Everytime I use steephill, it’s either tennis or the feed is terrible.
I found a better feed for the eurosport coverage elsewhere, can’t remember exactly. there’s a few good ones that come to mind: myp2p and firstrowsports. woke up and went back to sleep last night though, caught the finish of the usa pro challenge this morning, the feed from the official website is really good quality.
