thanks for the word up matty. i’ve rocked macbeths in the past, and they have been most satisfying. when the sneakers i got from vegetarian shoes four years ago finally wear out i’ll definitely be hitting you up for some.
I love everything they have ever done… and like most side projects Tom, Mark and Travis have done. Although I wouldnt wear Macbeth purely cause i dont like the shoes, but ive heard they are decent.
I have a shitload of vegan friends that wear Vans Authentics, Era’s and the Geoff Rowley models.
But props to the unvegan Matt for even bringing them up in this forum to raise awareness
i had a pair of macbeths for a while. they became my painting shoes. not the most comfortable shoes i’ve ever owned. simple on the other hand - super comfortable, vegan yadda yadda.
oh, and macbeths were only $40 USD when i picked mine up.
are you bringing in of the 6 hole ones as well as the 5 hole ones in the top picture (which i assume is taken by you)?
some days im not sure who does the best ‘in quote’ editing… shortsie or brendan.
right now brendan is winning…
thanks for listening.
and thanks to matt for bringing this up… are you bringing in the vans era “inspired” model (the jackson) as well? i wouldnt mind seeing what they look like in reality.
Always thought it was funny that what a shoe was made out of is more important than where and how it’s made, I thought all that fair trade and no sweat stuff - whether or not the person who made your shoes is getting a fair wage, is allowed to go to the toilet without asking a supervisor, isn’t being shot for trying to organise workers - was more important than whether or not there’s fish in your beer :?
On the other hand the adbusters shoes are so laden with dogma and lasn-wank they fail epically. The No Sweat stuff is daggy - but there’s this silent confrontation when you realise ‘well how much of what I’m wearing at the moment is sweatshopped? probably all of it’ and then you wonder ‘what’s the point of wearing one sweat-free garment then’ and ‘how hard would it be to replace everything in my wardrobe with an ethical item’ … too hard. Easier to dismiss it as being all a bunch of hippy crap. (On the other hand, they do need an Australian distributor Matt…)
so when in doubt, do it yourself … anyone got an industrial sewing machine? I reckon dead bike tryres (MTB for example) would look pretty gnarly on the bottom of a home-made shoe:
I brought a pair from PSC - has PSC closed, the store was looking rather empty - in 2003 and they’re still going strong.
I had no idea they were Vegan though. . . On a side note a good friend of mines partner runs Veganwares in Smith St and they churn out Vegan shoes - even for a fair few celebs.
