Question - I have a bog standard SE Lager, first fixie. What would you do to begin to improve it as I have no idea where to start. Interested in what would make the biggest bang for buck as not exactly flush with cash. Cheers.
Personally, the pedals would be the first things, then the wheels, then cranks, stem/bars, saddle, then finally the frame, in that order.
if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Insure it, then toss it under an oncoming bus.
What is it that you want to improve?
If you don’t have any complaints about it, then don’t spend money on it.
+1
ride it til parts break (and save more cash in the mean time to spend on better/more parts)…
the other benefit is that you will work out which bits you want to replace by either riding other peoples bikes or finding out what ‘might’ be slowing you down.
if you are climbing a bunch maybe a lighter partX will be of more benefit… if you like jumping off things maybe you need to beef up other parts.
or you could just buy a bike flag, those things are sweeeeet:
Rattle can it.
Just ride that pony
Rider> Break> Fix always in that order.
To make it look better, Wheels and a can of your favourite colour.
My friend stuck pink Deep v’s on his brown Lager.
It looks like a cupcake now.
Thanks for all the feedback - looks like some wheels and a bike flag is a good start.
Only if you do black bars, black forks and a red frame as well.
Wait, it’ll look like a Raleigh!
trade it for a real lager. i like cascade green at the moment.
what doncha like about it? pedals and cranks would be my first change. and a seat that you like.
