Which bike out of these?

Hey guys,

Am buying first fixie after riding a bad boy ultra for a while and am looking at two bikes. Can’t really decide between the Charge Plug Racer bought from wiggle in UK, as including postage with a couple of extras is about 1080 whilst rrp here is $1399 for stock.

Or the Bianchi pista. My LBS is selling them for about 1500, but would probably look for a second hand one for under the grand mark.

Bought an old frame to build one also, but realise this will take me ages, and cost a bit for someone of my limited knowledge, so plan to buy one off shelf and mix and match parts for a while.

Ideas for which bike to go for? Any advice would be great.

Don’t get the Pista unless you want to see slightly different versions of yourself riding all over town.

build your own… More fun. More satisfaction. You learn more. More individual. Please sir may I have some more.

+1

build your own.

Go for the charge, building your own is overrated. Individuality is only a ridiculous sticker or a trulystupid pairof pants away.

is a fair point. am down in sunny hobart though, so am not sure how many are around. speaking to one of the few bianchi dealers here, they ‘special ordered one for a chap a couple of months ago.’

though, i am also going to try and build one, good uni distraction, but need a bike to kick around on while i slowly make it. am a little worried about these hobart hills getting the best of me - so look out for a second hand charge in the next month or so.

He must have grown sick of people kicking him in the balls.
+1 for roll-your-own, and spend up to 20% of total bike cost on a good lock if you’re going to be riding it to pubs/uni/whatever.

I’d say either build your own or get the charge from somewhere local with good people. Wiggle is a long way away when something goes wrong

i would go the charge plug out of these two. But i agree building your own would be the best. It might take longer and even cost you more in the long run, but you’ll know it back to front and have the power to build it how you like. Its unlikely that even if you buy one from a store that you will leave it unchanged anyway

Pista for sale here:

$1100 with a brooks saddle and leather bar tape. Probably get it for $900-1000.

Bought a bike of the dude last year, nice guy.

Conor

two of my mates have charge plugs
they are damn storng and smooth as to ride

only one is smooth what are you talking about? lol have you riden the chrome one? its not… but maybe its because of the wheels he has on it… i dont think they are true

haha. when you say the chrome one is that the racer? as that is the charge model i am swaying towards. spose you dont know if the stickers come of easy enough?

thanks everyone for replies. looking like the pista is less liked. i saw one for around the 850 mark, but am not sure now! got a kryptonite evo II lock - hope that keeps the thieves away!

:sunglasses:

Gilbert the best advice your going to get would be if you take your coin down to your LBS at the end of Macqaurie street, Bottles n Chains will fix all your problems for ya

Don’t forget you can’t shoot the shit from time to time with wiggle.
See ya at knoppies.

nah man getting those stickers off is IMPOSSIBLE! lol well not qutie but close.

but the bike brand new rides really nice would only speak well of it…

and good for tricks if that is the scene you want to get into…
(just have to flip the stem)

snail, heard whispers of this bottles and chains. will come along to next ride, probably have a cardiac arrest though.

where is this store? near foodstore? as i know when this charge comes in i want grab some stuff. anywhere in hobart recommended? maybe even show me how to ride the thing!
