thats also great that you have a bmx for “real stunts” i also have a road bike for riding long distance with ease on, instead of doing it fixed. i dont see the point in saying bmx’zzz are for real tricks… just like saying road bikes are for travelling A to B…
i also own a brooklyn park bike 24" brakeless, pegs etc. but i find doing the same or similiar stuff fixed is much more challenging, PLUS i can actually ride my trick bike unlike bmx/small mtb’s…
those of you who come on and say “bmxzzz are way better for tricks” what is your cycling background??? your bike history??
im making a BIG assumption here, and i may be wrong. but i wouldnt mind betting people who say things like “But some of us just bought bmxs. they’re so much more fun for tricks” have not ridden bmx/street mtb previously to doing tricks on a fixed wheel. Its no supprise than you can do more things more easily on a bmx/mtb bike, but thats not the point.
As I’v said, you guys can also ride from A-B,up that big hill, down the other side much more easily on a road bike, but you choose to do it fixed which i also choose to do, i dont JUST do tricks…
where as for myself i have settled on this style of riding after many many years of doing it all(road/mtb/track racing/street mtb/bmx) as it brings together all the things i love about bikes.
I just forked out a fuckload to build a bomb-proof fixie. I can’t be fuked getting a bmx, i dont feel comfortable riding them cos they are way to bulky and small.
I rode mtb for 4 years or so (downhill, dirt jumps, skatepark). I bought a fixie to get from A-B because I had never ridden on, also shop forgot to put the freewheel on and i couldn’t be bothered waiting. Did a tiny bit of track. Learnt to do some tricks. Then started watching bmx vids, got sucked in and bought one. I still commute on the fixie everyday.
There’s one that was going to be a media project. But there weren’t many tricks on it. There are better people in Melbourne to film for trickzzz
fair enough, but you cant seriously tell me you had no idea of what was possible on a bmx bike untill recently/prior to doing tricks fixed??
BTW, i also ride with alot of bmx guys here in brisbane and keep pretty up to date with whats new in bmx, i just prefer to own one bike that can do it all :D, iv tried owning multiple bikes and i just never ride them, hence why my park bike is for sale…
