12 hole rear track hubs

Hi,
I have access to some Shamals in 12h titanium and 16h.
My question is does any body make 12 or 16 hole rear track hubs that I could lace a set of these to? I am strugling to find a pista set but want a set for another build I’m finishing. I have searched a bit and found miche made a 16 hole but cant find them any where.
any help would be great thanks Dayne

Just use half the holes in a 24 or 32 hole hub.

Mack will make some for you:

I think the waiting list is 4 or 5 months but they are awesome hubs and you get to select all the details yourself (flange size, colours, fix/free, fix/fix). Really cool hubs. I probably shouldn’t have sold my set.

i have been lusting after a set of those mack hubs for ages. do you know how much he’s charging for a set these days?

The half the holes on a 24-32 has been a issue of debate for a while im still not sure if it is the right thing to do.
Has any body done this in person or seen it done with success?
The mack hubs look great any idea on price?

Contact Hillbrick, pretty sure Paul can get Miche Primatos in special drillings including 16H, don’t know about 12H…

Thanks captain Paul was a great help he has a 16 and could get a 12 custom

bling them out: custom drilled phil woods.

12 holes? Jesus that’s getting low on a rear…

Yeah I’m only 70kgs wet and legs like an ibis.

if you are going the 16h route, i believe using the 16h miche hubs means you can also reuse the shamal spokes, which’ll save you a few bob.

Yeah… please don’t go 12h rear… that’s just… asking for trouble. 16h hub to 32h rim works on rims that don’t have angled drilling for the nipples… 32h hub to 16h rim semi-works, but good luck getting even spoke tension. Speak to Hillbrick, they seem to be able to get what you need, even if they don’t list every item. They should be able to sort you out with 16h hubs. I’d also advise buying the best spokes you can. After all, even at a few dollars per spoke, you’re only going to need to buy 16 of the buggers!

the macs are not super expensive and pretty dam special looking, way cooler than a set of custom drilled phils

such a low spoke count wheel set is going to need lots more attention and babying that say a 24h set
and the shamals have internal nipples so truing them ( which you will have to quite often with the 12h ) requires removing tires and tape, i have 16h ventos which use the same rim and you need to use levers to get the tires on they are that tight.
and then theres the side flex… the rims are nice and stiff but with only 16 spokes they are not the best sprinting wheels, very aero yes but they move a lot laterally

good luck, they will look nice

Like this?

Aesthetics over function - that’s the fixed.org motto isn’t it?

fixed.org cap ???

isn’t it every thing riding a track bike on the street stands for…?

Meh, less than 10% tension variation leading to trailing spoke tension. You are right though, get properly drilled hubs if it isn’t too much hassle or money. 12 spoke rears means you are asking for loads of care and possibly trouble.

Even then unless you rode them exclusively on the track I’d expect you to be either very wealthy or silly. Prolly both. If it’s just for show/display then go for it.

//If they made 8 hole Shamals and I think people would be blinded enough by unobtanium/cache/hype and considering using them.

Hey, are these the 16 hole low flange, or large flange hubs that work with them? I just got some gipiemme 416’s to convert, would like to re use the spokes too!! cheers
