Surburban train to werribe ight be the go, still ~40k to geelong but gets you closeish
Is anyone up for doing this? It would be good to ride down with a group of people fixed/ss or otherwise
Haven’t decided to spectate on the climb on Aphrasia st or after the feed station down the road…
Do you want to see riders dealing out the hurt or feed zone crashes and get a free musette?
I’m planning on riding down (really) early on the Sunday the long way around ie Sorrento, Queenscliff, Geelong and scoping out where Nikcee has that viewing spot…
Aiming for the 9am or 10am ferry crossing. Forecast is for northerlies so the ride down shouldn’t be too bad.
May have to ride back to Werribee after and jump on the train.
Anyone else planning on doing the same?
(Daylight saving starts Sunday morning as an added bonus).

went to a conference that Floyd Landis was speaking at yesterday. He was pretty impressive and seemed like a guy with nothing to lose having in fact lost the lot, title, respect, marriage. He was incredibly frank about his experiences and got quite emotional when Aldo Sassi (who’d come into the venue almost unnoticed) praised him for speaking out against doping and said everyone deserved a second chance if they’d changed their ways.
It’s starting to look pretty incredible out there. Got to see the likes of cancellara up close as they tested the course.
I was gonna train it to Werribee, but i kinda like Stu’s idea.
Im riding down from hoppers crossing at 7am, hopefully with a hangover.
currently checking out the viability of the lawnchair spot.
i want to be on one of the hills. there will be tonnes of ‘seagulls’ around the feedzone, i’d rather see the race-splitting move.

HMC - pm me if you want to join me - I am planning on leaving pretty fricken early ie around 5.30am from East Malvern depending on planned ferry time which will depend on whether I meet up with some mates from NZ that are riding in from Ocean Grove or whether I see them on the hill (I’d be flexible if it was a choice between riding solo and riding with someone). Reckon I need to allow 4hrs - last time I went down there it took me about 3.5hrs to Sorrento from mine.
Be nice to have some company.

I should add I’ll be riding down on my roadie and plan on taking a small backpack with camera, jacket, sunblock etc. The ferry leaves on the hour, every hour and a one-way ticket costs $10.
