Cyclists’ political party to contest Victorian election
The Australian Cyclists Party has just received provisional approval to be a registered Federal party. Following a successful 30-day public notice period the party will be approved to contest in future Federal elections.The Australian Cyclists Party has already registered for elections in New South Wales and is poised to submit for registration in Victoria this week. The party was created just over 9 months ago to push through government to achieve positive action towards a Bicycling Friendly Australia.
President and Founder of the Australian Cyclists Party, Omar Khalifa says, “Despite a long history of cycling and recent success in sport cycling, Australia now lags most developed countries in the uptake of cycling in every day life.
