Bendigo Madison / cycling carnival is on March 7th to 9th.
Great weekend of racing, sunshine and fresh country air. Well worth a trip to my old stomping ground, just avoid the night spots.

I thought they were good as a naive 19 year old. 7 years after moving to melb I wouldn’t even dream of going out there. The Vine and Brian Borou are the only decent pubs left. There all sports bars or gastro pubs
Yep I’m in. 99, Damoh, Chopper and a few others will be there. Should be a great weekend.
You’ll have to give us a rookie’s nightspot guide. The best thing we’ve found so far is the Turkish place near the mall - $2 breads and dips and awesome tabouleh

Laurie at the Oval Hotel can be entertaining pub owner or completely pissed, Guiness on tap.
Never really drank at the Oval Hotel. Drank at the Botanical in White Hills a bit because of cricket affiliations etc. Brian Borou was more my scene and Tonic years ago when it provided the only non sports bar/bogan establishment in town.
Should be good weekend of racing. If your riding around watch out for cowboys, they don’t like bikes to much up there
The place is over run by bike riders on Sun night so I think the bogan simplicity is maybe hidden, or maybe over emphasised. Us girls go to perve rather than to find great night spots :-o.
WOW what a carnival, I am so fucked now all i want to do is sleep.
