It seems generous on first blush. In online forum talk in particular, YMMV is used to flag one’s opinion, and purportedly to recognize that others might have a different one. I found this diet really helpful, but YMMV. A kind of deferential shrug, a way of saying, “Hey, this is my experience, things might be different for you.” That’s what YMMV says, that’s it’s semantic payload.

Bit of a thread dig. Rode past Abbotsford Cycles on Swan St and they are advertising a Shimano Dynamo wheel package for $150. No idea the model of hub, but in principle that is a good deal, right??
In principle, yes. Depends on the rim, spokes, and hub. So, it depends on everything I guess.
I think it was a 6V unit and Alex rim.
Some shimano hubs are pretty agricultural 
I can imagine a set up being a rip off at $150 but still pumping out a massive 6V (while weighing 2kg and pulling 30W of drag)
