BNE State Champs Rd 1

Rocked up the first round of the state champs on Sunday, feeling not overly sure that I even wanted to roll some circles. Sadly, In the Pink turned up to watch just as I did…so I had an obligation to enter. Soon after, TR turned up to watch, followed by MikeyD.

Lots of fun, many lessons learnt and next time won’t bloody ride on the moring before hand.

The best part, is one of the ‘older’ trackies pulled me aside afterwards and gave me damm great advice. Simple bunch placement tips that are sure to help.

The other best part…all the A grade wanker knob wannebe pro lads that I raced against, game me crap for ‘attacking for no good reason’. Fair enough…means I will do it more often now.

Attack attack attack.

String the bunch out I say.

Rhino’s rules of Track racing.

Attack
Attack
ATTACK!!!

How was the gearing? All spun out?

47 x 14 was fine, and only about 2 inches smaller than the other guys.

The gear was fine for everything other than the handicap, where I would have liked to put a 15 on the back.

I have to say, I think Chandler is the only velodrome around that has a freaking headwind on the final straight.

That head wind is a bitch…
I’ve noticed it a few times…

Well done for turning out and having a go…
Looked like you were really enjoying it.
Think I know who the advice came from… Will PM you…

I’ve got a provisional pass out for the 21st for the Grand Prix night.
(Only going in for the support rides obviously…)

Think the form’s a bit unclear… There is a masters class…

48 x 14 felt pretty good for Chandler most of the time with 49 x 14 for the championships

Thanks for that, I have a 48 at home so will up the gearing by 2 inches. I will keep the 47 on for the handicap, just to get up to speed, but all the others I think I would like that extra roll-out.
