Here is how I saw it… FoA was alive because most of the users were in their mid 20s etc, a lot of time on our hands to spend on the interwebs… and then a lot of you now have little legends to look after rather than give me advice on what colour bag I should choose (rude).
Then instagram launched their DMs and it went from sharing pics of beers on a friday to everything else. There were just too many places to have a chat with that and facebook groups. I feel like FoA kind of got lost in that area.
ANYWAY. I have no idea what this other forum was… but welcome to FoA. Some of my best mates are from this part of the world.
BNA was a big place 10 years ago or so. But as said it won’t be there in 2 weeks. So some are making a move early. Some might follow once closed. But there aren’t many regulars left.
Yeah, instead of having one spot here to chat to my bike nerd friends I now have multiple chats across Whatsapp and IG. Which is annoying, cos they’re both owned by fb/zuck, who is a deplorable character.
What sort of bag are you looking at? And what colours is Harry offering at the moment?
Whoa - thats some life-ing going on! Very different to when we had a coffee when I was in Tassie! Are you still in the same area?
Me. No kids… same house. Still designing for the same company… 25 years working for Swell coming up! Hanging out with my little Daisy dog who I love! Getting into riding a bit with my mountain biking and always trying to push myself out on rides. I was thinking of getting into racing again but as soon as I was going to sign up I got a bit sick which put my fitness back a bit… what else, I built a wood fire oven in the back yard… I am still making bread… I am still cooking meat… still roasting coffee… brewing beer. Getting on the zwift and talking about zwift with Blakey… I am picking up an EV tomorrow… I got a tattoo… my moustache is back (but not big and curly this time)… just getting older but still feeling pretty fit… still overthinking things… not shooting too much with the cameras these days… I have a solo trip to europe booked in September that will have me immersing myself in the traditional beer styles in Czech, Bavaria/Franconia, Koln and Belgium. Can’t wait!
Every time I see my Gibson Joan Jett Melody Maker I think of the truss rod cover graphic you sorted out for me ten years ago. And I don’t think we’ve ever actually met in person? I didn’t realise how long I’ve had that guitar.
