Just wanting to know what gear inches / ratios Brisbane riders cruise around on. Have to buy a crankset and want to be able to get around easily (would prefer to spin than struggle)
Had a search and couldn’t see a Brisbane thread.

I ride 69-74ish but 69 is my favorite if its brakeless,
What ratio do you use?
I’ve retired riding fixed on the street, how fit and strong are you
What cranks are you looking at
fuking hampster action right thur
That’s about the magic number for me too.
I ride my track bike it’s 48/15
It’s rideable but no fun for whip skidding traffic
Spinning is winning
48/17 on the street, 48/15 on the track.
Red’s a skid-a-holic and runs 49x15 at present same as me.
All comes down to how strong you are and how fast you wish to cruise. I refuse to be overtaken, so won’t run less than high 80’s.
Punch some digits into this.
BikeCalc.com - Speed at all Cadences for any Gear and Wheel
Illustrates speed at specific cadence levels for various ratios - should help you out
I’m riding 45-17 atm, commuted on 46-18 for a year with no issues.
47/18 with a cadence of 80 is 27km that’s cruisy
100 cadence will give you 32km/h
That’s 72gi
Lol
49/16 street
44/17 - learn to spin. Could comfortably sit in bunches with that.
what he said
47-16 for me but for a commuter gear hills can be a pain
49/19, spinners are winners.
You can spin on any ratio if you have the balls…
ftfy
Or alternatively headed out to the airport. Other then that, Brisbane is way to stop and start.
or 49x16 - get some legs
