Can't get onto Chainring Transit Authority?

Anyone happen to know why CTA are uncontactable at the moment? No answer to phone or e-mail for the last few weeks, and I neeeeeed hubs!

He has been uncontactable for a long time.

ask dan @ shifter about it… :x

lynn was supposed to be sending some hubs and cogs down just before melburn-roobaix, then coming down with them and then nothing. dan isnt getting a response either… and i’d assume he is one of the bigger sellers of phil stuff locally.

he had a couple of customers (incl. me) lined up for things and had to keep apologising.

he ended up filling the orders via other means…

anyone want to be the phil distro for australia?

I think there already is a distro

Damn that sucks, I’m pretty sure he had what I wanted in stock as well. So much for that.

Cheers for the link ken.

Are they dealers or distributors? I had always been under the impression (and had heard it from others) that Lynn was the phil distro for australia.

Well they get there hubs directly from the states and they are an importing business so I would say that they are the distributors.

Both Stu and Glen are really helpful and friendly if you want to order anything give them a call and get a price.

Spoke to Stu today and it seems they do wholesale to shops as well, although the w/s price would make the retail pretty damn high if you were reselling at full mark up. Regardless, he was super helpful, so if anyone’s after Phil Wood they seem to be the way to go. Speed Shop do them as well, but I’m not sure how their prices compare (anyone know?).

Speed Shop are actually listed as the other distributor in the year book (probably should have checked to start with), along with CTA.

try these guys if you want some phils hubs… no postage means you’ll be paying $400 AU on a bad day for a set of phil hubs landed…

Support your LBS :stuck_out_tongue:

i have tried email/calls to Lynn also for a few weeks and can’t get hold of him…

Support your LBS by all means but it looks like the LBS network isn’t delivering what this customer (sekt) wants. I’ve bought quite a bit of CK and other stuff from Michael and the guys at Aspirevelotech dating back to when Mike first set up and can’t fault them for price and service. Had a warranty issue once and they were bloody fast and no hassle.

You’ve got to be patient with lynn, i tried getting a cog from him over the summer, it took him a about a month for him to get back to me. Turned out he went touring somewhere, he might be doing the same thing now.

Oh yeah, they are a distro. Just like I’m a Mercedes-Benz dealer, I don’t have any stock and just order it from the factory when I get an order for one.

i do i get all my work done, tires, tools from my boys but even they tell me to get parts online…
i got a set of DT rims and spokes would have been $600 just for the parts from my LBS
got em for $350 online and payed the boys at the LBS to build em…
$250 is a lot of coin to throw away in support…
my wheel set would have set me back $1400 if i’d got every thing local
i spent only $1000 with tires…

the big problem is every time the exchange rate gets shitty the importers put the prices up which filters down to the shop price… then when the exchange rate gets good again… the importers keep the price the same. they are the real problem here…

+1
And I agree on your comment about supporting the LBS: I certainly don’t get enough value out of my LBS to be giving them an extra $400 (in your case) per wheelset.

I work at the LBS, so I think support is unavoidable.

did anyone get onto Lynn in the end?

Nope, never heard back from him. Ended up sourcing some hubs from the guys at Definitive.

ahhh - I’m going to keep trying to get onto him because he may be able to swap me a bottom bracket that I have which is the wrong length (plus cash) for another one…
