Cassettes - why, what and which one?

A lot of New lower to mid specs are coming out with compact cranks.
I guess its great for the non racing competative cyclist but see how you go.

Bikes specced for MAMILs. The world’s coming to an end!
Our friend xhotbradx used to race crits at heffron with a compact on the front and I’m not sure he liked it too much. No doubt he was spending way too much time on the front so maybe that had something to do with it.

You mostly race at Sutho, Rowan? Compacts and a regular 11-25 cassette would be fine. Buy an extra one instead of swapping it for your stock one so you can change them out when you want to ride the RNP if need be.

I ran 25/11 and compact for the last year…
Be fine for crit racing unless your pulling more than 60kph…
Infact your gona get a tighter spread with the 50 up front, a good thing as long as you can handle changing gear a little more often. Enjoying the increase in top end that my change to semi compact rings are bringing…

thanks for the help guys, looks like i could even go an 11-23 and still be comfortably within the gi range range i was actually using before.

yea sutho mostly, but we do inter clubs a bit with st george so a few races at oatley park, and i’m shit at hills so will definately hang onto the wider range aswell.
