Chrome bags in Melbourne?

elephantitis is overkill for anyone who isnt a furniture removalist
unless they like to drink

A bit off the topic of ‘messenger bags’ but I’m in the market for a backpack and just wondering what anyone on here would suggest. Doesn’t have to be enormous, but big enough to fit books, a few tools, wet weather gear, lights and on occasion, a camera. Had a look at the Skin Grows Back bag, but it’s a bit pricey. Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers.

have you tried one on?

I’m sure anyone else running one will agree with me, that when not full, they can be made much smaller so sit a bit better on your back really comfortably when empty. Once you go big you will never want to go any smaller

i can imagine its good but for me, going to school and going out would be the only time i would need it. then again, general shit that ends up in my current bag is very annoying. so more space would be welcome. how much is the one down from elephantitis

yeah thats funky, but I don’t have 31 bundy bottles laying around so I can then try and figure out the dimensions.

I got a Sindrome just recently, I like it, much better than most things I could have bought overseas. In terms of size its plenty big enough to hold all your daily needs, commuting to work, uni whatever. That diagram is hard to tell exactly how big the bags are, email dave he will be happy to give you all the details.

the chrome backpacks are quite ‘flat’ but for what you want would probably work well (ie nothing really box-shaped). price is pretty decent via the sources for chrome gear above. otherwise check out baileyworks, reload and freightbaggage. all do a smaller backpack.

the SGB one is pretty huge… i havent worked out the 6 pack/bundy bottle capacity but id be very sure its way bigger than you need.

bigger is better til you find yourself carrying a load of extra crap you dont need, just because you can (or dont notice thanks to the extra bag capacity you have), then you end up downsizing to a more appropriate size.

Can you tell me how much the citizen bags will cost? And also how do they compare size-wise to the Sindrome?

It’s a bit tricky to judge sizes on the internet and I can’t find much other than crumpler bags in melbourne unfortunately.

without being shotdown in post-flames, might i suggest you come out to a couple of fixed rides/events?

i see quite a number of chrome bags each day, primarily the citizen and metropolis… i also believe there are a couple of sindromes down here. you’d also be able to see PAC, seagull, reload, baileyworks and maybe even freight/SGB (if you are lucky). thats how i have done parts of my bag research… and i’ve certainly helped with others doing the same over the years. the best part is you can actually try the bags on (if you are nice) thats how i found out that i dont like how chromes sit on me.

excellent suggestion, thanks!

i just need to get off my arse and go riding more often

decided to go the sindrome. talked to the guy from BO gear yesterday.

was really nice and answered all my questions and i was surprised that postage to melbourne is only 11 bucks!!!

couple of my friends got there chrome roll tops from spoken in st kilda ?

dunno about now, its moved.
