Cinelli Alter

Has anyone ever tried to get the paint off a Cinelli Alter? How did you try? How did it go? I think it would look awesome stripped back and polished up. But I also think it’ll look shitty partially stripped back with bits of paint in the open sections in the middle.

I’m guessing that the stem is Anodised rather than painted?

You can use the caustic soda method to remove the anodising. It has been described in the past, but I cannot find the post in question…

(Have we had a rationalisation of the volume of posts on the forum - the last post I can find in the ‘help’ section dates back to only June 09 2007?, which seems rather recent?).

Nope, not anodised. Either painted or powdercoated. (There are chips of missing paint.)

I’m wondering if there is any tricky method to get to the bits I won’t be able to reach with sandpaper by hand.

paintstripper??? Spray-on type??

Why do people insist on destroying pieces of history?

Art through destruction?

This could turn into quite the theological debate :stuck_out_tongue:

If its powder coating it’ll probably need a soft (if there is such a thing) bead blasting, cause you say theres some paint chips off, sounds like powder coat so it should work.

Hard to reach??? might need caustic or acid bath?
