CX world champs on tonight

Just a reminder to anyone interested the cross world champs are on foxtel eurosport channel from 12 or 1am (depending on how far south you live) tonight.

I am on night shift and we have foxtel there, so there is going to be a one-man-lion-of-flanders-flag-waving-cowbell-ringing party at Brisbane airport.

watched the juniors last night the course looks hard!

what if you had a CX world champs race and only belgians showed up?

U23s race was great… race for 2nd/3rd in the womens was really good, the sand riding clinic that the belgians put on in the mens was next level. i was hoping for more (read: meussen getting 2nd) in the race for silver/bronze.

seeing lewis (albeit getting lapped) after 3 laps just before the start/finish had me cheering, by myself, in the dark, at ~1:20am.

when the elite men are coming up short trying to ride up pinch climbs, you know the course is super hard!

One of the guys at work said ‘do you all have to wear the same jersey?’.

I am sure there would have been some good battles for minor placings and I wish they had showed bits of them.

Womens race was really good, lots of back and forth with 2nd-5th. I reckon Katie might have sprinted to 2nd if she didn’t come loose at the bottom of that steep down hill section at the end of the last lap.

Just watching this now, thanks foxtel IQ.

Gotta be honest and say this is the first cx race i’ve seen and I can now understand why you guys have gone batshit crazy for it. Its awesome…

it would have been interesting for sure… she was pretty gassed after coming back from (apparently) dead last after the start (botched clip-in + crash) and that had taken its toll on her. she had to take a decent break after her attack was reeled in, and was slower to macth any accelerations. van der brand was saying that she had energy left when it came to the last part of the race. so my feeling is that she wouldnt have been able to match it with vdB but might have been able to give cant a run in the final sprint if there was three of them. but then cant did have 61,000 screaming supporters

either way a 3-up sprint would have been interesting…

Bring on the domestic cross season!
