distance v's lycra

i went and put bibs on just to read the thread. no jersey tho. don’t call me a poseur!

Nice rugged bloke style!

Ride all day for work, no lycra.

Fuck lycra.

Yeh, but you’re young and dumb. You’ll wise up.

I commute in lycra 32 kms each way, but under shorts. I’m on a brooks as well, so I can get away without lycra if needed.
When I’m going for a “ride” ride it’s lycra all the way. But that’s mostly just to piss off the people in the coffee shop.

To and from work under jeans / shorts and usually on a mid week ride.

Full Lycra if I’m doing a “proper” ride, if I’m going to the pub / shops, no Lycra.

I’ve tried both, lycra is second best!

Lycra under shorts somewhere above 30ks where chafing may be an issue.
Maybe uppers in summer when sweat is an issue.
Otherwise I think unnecessary except when in competition/training for.

Every time I ride the road bike. I don’t ride this to the shops.
Might have ridden once or twice fixed in Lycra, long beach run with mates on their roadies.

>100m no - 100m> yes

100m rides sound like fun

I just checked and Proud Mary is 350m away from home - so. Lycra every ride.

I made this table that I stuck in my cupboard at home to help me with this exact question.

^ hardcore right there. love it

wear my at least bibs/bib short under my shorts, don’t think i can ride without em now…

151+k’s without lycra?
your nether regions must have some pretty serious callouses :stuck_out_tongue:

Me i get serious crotchal chafeage after more than ~20k’s unless i wear nicks (always under baggy shorts though) but i have fat thighs and sweat heaps

heh!

I don’t think I’ve worn lycra since the late 80’s when cycling shorts, bum bags and fluro “bad to the bone” tees were fashionable.
