Dura Ace 7600 track hubs for street use?

Recently upgraded my rear wheel on my Fuji Feather to a Phil Woods/ Mavic open pro that I scored used right off the forums here. Still running the stock front wheel and want to swap that out for something nicer. Was searching around on gumtree and someone local to me is selling a radially laced DA 7600 laced to mavic open pros.

The rims will be all nice and matchy but how will the track hubs fair for street use? Messaged the seller and he’s only got the basic dust seals. Did a bit of googling and opinions seem to vary. Some say avoid them for road use, I’ve seen mention of getting road seals for them and some say that they’ll run fine with just some maintenance a couple times a year.

Still a bit new to all this so if there are recommendations for other front wheels that would be much appreciated.

you’re overthinking this son … buy 'em, ride 'em and if you’re riding in a lot of bad weather it means at worst you’ll need to repack them with fresh grease a couple of times a year (at worst).

with fresh bearings and grease there’s no reason these hub won’t outlast you.

I have had these hubs on my bike for a couple years. All street use. They are awesome.
That said I don’t ride mega amounts in the wet on them, but so far they have not had a single issue.

Terrible. Just like track frames. But that didn’t stop anyone.

Cheers fellas! Knew I could count on you lot for a straight answer.
Really should keep off bikeforums for advice… they can’t seem to agree on anything.

Lol!

Pretty sure each of the responses were telling you to use them yeah? If you wanted a simple yes/ no then maybe you shouldn’t have over thought your original post.

I think you misunderstood nick.nacks post Dan…

Daniel - sorry mate, you might have misread my post. Wasn’t complaining or being sarcastic. Appreciated the responses here - probably my fault for being lazy. Should of typed bikeforums.NET, didn’t mean forums in general.

^ You’ve gotta watch Dan, he’s pretty agressive. :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably the best track/single speed hubs ever made
I actually prefer loose ball.

my brother has been riding them for the last 3 years every day. i think they got regreased once when the rims got relaced. other then that he hasn’t touched them. i imagine he’s worst case scenario regarding maintenance, and they still roll fine,

Been riding mine on the street for a year now in all weather conditions.

Haven’t repacked them at all because they still spin as good as the day I bought them. (If I lift the bike off the ground, both wheels will rotate around so the valve is at the bottom - this still happens with the drivetrain still hooked up).

The Only better hubs are Suzue ProMax IMO. But I bent a set using them on the street.

I rode mine on the street for a bit, so smooth but honestly they are too good for street thrashing and you won’t notice the difference compared to some velocity/etc hubs
