Finally reached Melburn. Stayed at Torquay for 7 days to watch the last stages of the tour and get fat whilst doing absolutely nothing. Pretty sure no polo crew hang out on these forums, but I’ll try to attend this weeks tuesday session; look out for the skinny dude on a surly crosscheck with front and rear bike racks, I’m always keen for a chat.
Cheers Gypo! look forward to making it up to Brisbane, I’m going to send my Polo bike up for the championships but don’t have a fixed address to send it to. I’ll send you a pm about this a little later.
I’m currently in Ulladulla and ~3/4 days away from Sydney. Roads are getting hectic and I had a crash yesterday, bit of road rash but nothing a cup of concrete can’t fix. Looking for some lawn or a couch to crash at for a night or two at Sydney.
Decided that I won’t be riding to Brisbane, instead, I booked tickets to yesterday Auckland and will arrive there tomorrow. Will ride around New Zealand for the next 35 days or so and leave from Christchurch to Brisbane on the 17th.
well, my trip has finally come to an end. I’m currently in Christchurch then I’ll head to brisbane to play in the polo champs on the 17th.
rode over ~7800km all up over a period of 110 days. Its truly been an experience of a lifetime, thanks to everyone who’s followed my trip and given me some kind words of encouragement.
I’ve got some smaller trips planned over the summer, I think i’ve been bitten by the travel bug. Feel free to pm me about my trip, I’m always keen to share some advice about my gear and equipment, I’d recommend bike touring to anyone! A truly awesome way to see a country.
Well, not really. I was in Nelson during the Earthquake ~300km away from ChCh, apparently it was felt where I was but I slept through it like a baby. But, because of the earthquake I delayed my arrival into Christchurch to wait till things were a little more settled. Some say that the media have made it look far worse than it is, BUT after riding into ChCh there are some areas that look like battle zones and its a miracle no one was killed during the incident.
Yesterday I volunteered for the clean up effort and spent 8 hours digging out silt from peoples backyards, its pretty crazy, there are fault lines everywhere and some houses are split in half. Personally however the earthquake has given me no dramas, I feel aftershocks everymorning but yeah… i just hope the airport stays open when I leave
