which dude are you b.dub?
oh hi ben, its me brett!
well, considering i find myself sprinting a lot of the ride home now… i reckon giving a go at riding in the velo would be a bit of fun and then see where it takes me… ?
not to sound naive, but what night am i best to come down on to get a bit of a basic run down on how its all done and the likes? I live in Brunswick…
best bet is to come down on a sunday morning 8-11. $10 bucks for non bcc members, $5 for members. if you dont have a csv rego at all dont fret, talk to one of coaches either phil or greg and they’ll give you a csv licence form to fill out.
cool thanks, currently have stars wheels on my frame… trying to upgrade… hopefully i don’t get laughed at in the meantime
will anyone else be there this Sunday?
well, i’ll hopefully be there this weekend… note to self: go to bed before 6am sunday morning.
as long as the star wheels are not quick release, and are fixed (lockring?), they’ll be fine.
depending what time the roobaix starts, ill be there!
Edit: roobaix starts at 11. i might come for a hour or so.
they rnt quick release. hoping I might meet some nice folk who want to sell me a decent track wheel set
i just sent Phil(?) an e-mail about the licensing papers. So hopefully i meet you guys down there
Who runs the Thursday morning session at DISC? The Sunday session is good but I need more track time…
daryl perkins. call up the CSV office and they’ll sort you out.
or, you know, you could race. there’s racing at DISC three times a week atm.
Quick question. I’ve got my eye on a De Ver track bike to use at DISC once I move back to Melbourne. I won’t get a chance to test ride it before making a decision.
I ride a road frame with effective 53.5 top tube with a 100mm stem. The de ver in question is a 53. Is sizing the same or should I be going smaller for track? ta.
Edit: in the interest of not getting flamed, I’ve googled some more, inseam is 80ish which would suggest 52cm. Shorter stem on 53 otay-ish?
Anyone bringing some sweet threads for 80’s night tomorrow?
There are others that know way more than me about this re track geometry, but I would think that it should be okay. If it is the one on ebay, it looks like a deal and you should be able to resell for a similar amount.
I made it down bright and early to DISC this morning to check out the newbie/inter-newb training and must say I was extremely impressed with the welcoming atmosphere. Coming from xc racing I must say that its refreshing to be welcomed rather than having to fight your way through all the shiet just to get the lowdown on how its done. Big thanks to all!
hahaha, i thought XC racing was way more welcoming than track. eitherway, glad to have you on board!
Ah from my experience (especially in the last few years) the xc scene is slowly been invaded with rodie type culture and snooty-ness to match the lavish top end bikes that are around now?
As a first impression the track crew seem way in front. Happy to be on board (no pun).
We had the pleasure of a Sunday session at DISC with Ewin. I think we did more laps on Sunday than I have done in my whole (short) velo career. Those chasedowns were mad fast.
one of the smartest riders i’ve seen race. you’re a lucky bloke!
yep, almost no breaks for the whole session and very fast… my legs are still sore
user JKLP has a mate jimmy who i think is also on this forum (but whose username i can’t remember). my point, however, is that he’s currently winning the brunswick E grade winter omnium! kick ass!
