first attempt at clip in/fixed

well well well i am a convert ridin’ for the last 35 mins with my new clip in shoe/pedal combo and damn it is a strange feeling soo stuck to pedals and pedals soo stuck to bike… amazing needed to rant as my tries to explain to my almost sleeping wife and told to GO-
AWAY so there it is a convert ,now gotta tighten the springs…out.

Congratulations doochefag! Do you want a fucken medal or something?

I look forward to three-page-essays on falling over at traffic lights while working out how to unclip. </thread>

easy, just sayin’ :-o

what clipless pedals are you using?

i have some spd’s on my road bike and want to try then on my track bike (on the street) good/bad idea?

Depends if your brakeless. Time ATAC if you want to live

i’m a die-hard atac user, but that statement is BS.

SPDs do work, and are safely used by more people than atacs. are they as good, personally i think no. i like the ‘feel’ and reliability of my ATACs but survived using SPDs brakeless for a couple of years before i switched. Suitably adjusted, SPDs are comparable. I’ve known a number of people who ride their SPDs very hard and very fast and they have had no safety issues that could be attributed directly to SPDs.

SPDs are a cheaper option for people who arent sold/convinced on the clipless idea or who might not be able to come up with the $$ for atacs (and shoes).

if you want to argue about ‘not dying’ road pedals are far superior to mtn bike pedals as their retention is considerably stronger designed as they are for staying in the pedals longer and under larger force. however, they suck for walking in…

this isnt a direct attack… its a clarification

i got an old pair of 105 pedals and using look (red) cleats so i think they are SPD’s but the cleats i got have some sideways movement at the bacl of the cleat wich i now know i need a ‘BLACK’ look cleat to have a snug fit bu todays commute was fine all good if i like it i wouldnt mind puttin some on my road bike and my mountain pony… .

Clipless rules. Tried clips/straps for the first time in months today, it sucked. I hated it. Made my day worst.

if only you could trick it up with clipless, thats the only flaw.

all your pedals suck…This is the future - Garrett Byrnes flip/flop pedals

I switched to clipless yesterday as well, funilly enough. Definitely an odd feeling after clips/straps, but I’m sold already. I did find it fairly scary going down the stupidly steep hill that ends in a 90 degree corner onto a bridge, as I run brakeless and a cleat feels a little more ‘unknown’ compared to the visibile and tactile clips.

I think the strangest thing is that I associate clipless with my mountain bike, so almost have this subconscious expectation for a freewheel once I’m clipped in.

Now I just need to switch out the SPDs on the Genius so I can use the same shoes on both bikes.

I LOL’d so hard when I saw this. They are awesome. I want some! :sunglasses:

The final rider (Johnny?) in the Council Of Doom video “tricks it up” clipless. I have no idea how he does it.

Why? It just means you are forced to do things clipped in.
And i dont do HEAPS of trick riding, but in my head thats a good thing.

You can bail from clipless way easier too.

For the record i run time atacs, but just got sent a pair of BO gear pre-pro FRS straps to trial. We’ll see.
