First time builder

Hi there,

I’m about to start my first fixie build and I was wanting a little bit of advice about the frame I was planning on using (27"/630mm Graecross Capri). Also, what is the correct way to measure the frame? I’ve read a few things that say from the center of the bottom bracket vertically to the top tube, overall top-tube or center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat post tube.

Any help would be great. :>

For general advice you can’t go passed Sheldon Brown. I’ve linked it directly to the frame sizing page.

You will probably get a better response if you ask a more specific question, but I’ll give you my 2 cents.

Frames are typically measured from the centre of the bottom bracket (where the pedal axel is) to the centre of the top tube, along the axis of the seat tube.
This measurement is known as seat tube C-C (centre to centre)

Sometimes frames are measured from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, where the seat post is inserted. This measurement is known as seat tube C-T (centre to top).

The other important measurement is the top tube C-C.

There are plenty of decent cheap frames going around for 700c wheels if you are worried about the aesthetics (with are clearly subjective anyway). But you can always build this one up, and if you feel the need, swap the parts over to another frame later.

Sweet, thanks for the tips. :>

No prob… which city you in?

I live on the Gold Coast, but I go up to Brisbane a lot.
