fixed bike accross china

Now here is a good idea, kinda gives me a kick up the bum to do a trip through Vietnam (as its pretty flat). Just my fixie and my rockclimbing shoes…

How great that would be.

I’ve done a lot of touring, but that just sounds like the bomb. It could be a pretty bumpy ride on a track frame with 20 kegs of gear and you on it. Get a good saddle.

Rhino, if you plan a trip, let me know!!

lats…glad to hear that your keen. I last went to vietnam on a $699 flights, and all up my trip for 2 weeks cost under $1200. Pending on other peoples response to the idea, I will look into the future of doing a longer trip or journey. Hell, we all only live once…and fixed accross some place in asia is such a dumb idea that its BRILLANT!!!

Wooooooooo hoooooo.

bring it on!!

Just gotta work out how to fix racks to a track bike. Might need to have some busses brazed on!

I would love to do something like that…next year after I graduate

How nice to have the life a student.

Those were the days!

they were indeed. Now I’m one of those “working full-time, studying part time” nearly-finished students. Looking forward to getting a real job so I can save up for trips like this (no other part of the real job though).

But when you get that new job mate.

The time you can take off for holidays diminishes greatly. Its a sad part of having a regular income!!

?d be interested in such a touring adventure. tickets from europe can sometimes be had at a very reasonable price. not sure how a real track bike would fair as a touring bike, but certainly a fixed gear of some sort would be a lot of fun.

it would of course be very difficult to plan with peoples varying schedules, but i think planning 6-12months in advance could make it a reality. food for thought though.

interestingly…

On the http://www.keirinberlin.de/ site, one of the photos at the bottom shows what appears to be…a pair of very worn-out dunlop volleys!!!

they’re not worn out. You should know, they’re just about worn IN.
