I’ve been home in the sticks for the past couple of days and I thought I’d go see my uncle and grandparents. I always knew my dad’s side of the family were into cycling but it never interested me much growing up due to the fact that I’d rather play guitar and video games which sucks.
Awsome pics.
My Pop always told me stories of his bike riding history. Boy they did some miles back then. But that was it, they had no other chioce but to ride. It was either ride, walk or not go at all back then. The distences he would ride back then for my nan (his girlfreind) back then it was amazining.
Pop is not with us now but those photos remind me of him so thank you for that.
man that reminds me of my uncle and his riding pals back in the day. he has giving me some rad old school track bikes that he no longer uses that are mint. my favourite is a cream coloured paradox frame with campy all over it. love it. its the family trophy. good post man.
the other day i was looking at some of my great uncle’s cycling medals (mostly just participant ones - one of which was emblazoned with a big ass swastika, maybe pre WWII?? either that or secret nazi crits)
I think he died riding a fixie - his pedal hit a rock or something whilst riding along the boulevard, went ass over tits and his chest went into the stem
Came back home to the sticks for a few days and thought I’d go frame hunting again.
Ended up with my friend picking up this Colnago track complete with Sugino super mighty cranks, NJS bars and a wheelset. I’m pretty sure it’s not a real Colnago but I’ve never really looked into what makes a frame an actual Colnago… It’s the bottom bracket cut out, right?
