FOA Spring Track Omnium

Too many periods in your ellipsis also. (Looks for the error I’ve made but cannot see.)

ah, feck off everyone.

Ha ha, typical chax.

This could be a silly question, but roughly how many laps would each race be?

depends on the race, any where from say 4 - 12… maybe more…

Sweet. I was worried it might be getting up to 20+.

Should we start drafting an event list then, Gene?

Flying 200s
Scratch (Lads/Ladies) - 8 laps? - 2.7 km
Kilo - 3 laps - 1 km
Progressive Points (Lads/Ladies) - 12 laps? - 4 km
Elimination (Lads/Ladies?)
Kierin? (Lads/Ladies) - 10 laps? - 3.3km - Mat Gray can be the motorcycle…

True omnium has a pursuit but that’s probably too much on a big slow track and would make for a long day. Keirin instead? Heats if necessary?

Was thinking perhaps 1 v 4, 2 v 3 from the flying 200s and then finals for match sprints also. Could crown FOA match sprint champs (Lads/Ladies) in addition to the overall omnium champ? Be good viewing and something to have a crack at if someones endurance is not tip-top?

Then maybe a group effort at the hour record?

its going to be highly dependable on how many turn up as to what events will end up running as well, if more than expected show running lots of individual/time based events will go straight out the window and more race’s and team event wil be thrown in

Flying 200s
Scratch
Kilo - 3 laps - 1 km
Progressive Points
Points
Elimination
kirin
team pursuits
matched sprints
handicaped sprints/scratch

any or all of these may or may not happen, im also a little keen to keep a the actual event listing secret till the day as i dont wanna give anybody to much info to go on for their training program

Madison. Do it.

watch it k o. using that sort of language in your edit notes will get uncle brendan angry

pfft i think brendan has come to accept a lack of propriety from me these days. but seriously, why can’t i use capital letters in this forum?

accept or expect?

that bugs me too. not to the point of homophobia, but it does bug me.

gene, this is a very long day. i know everyone’s telling you what to do right now, so i will too - i’ve ridden 2 state omnium champs now, so i’m not just talking out my ass on this one.

olympic omnium is now 6 events:

flying 250 (yes, 250).
kilo
scratch
pursuit
points
elimination

but i think steve is right about the pursuit - it’d take too long, and be too hard. i reckon your idea of having a handicap at the end would be good there, and base the handicap on the omnium standings.

so it’d look more like

flying 250
kilo
scratch
points
elimination
handicap

points go the opposite to normal, with 1 point going to the winner, 2 points to second, 3 points to third, etc, etc, etc. if there are more than 10 people each person after and including the person who came tenth gets ten points. lowest score wins the day.

then you could do the hour at the end of the day, as a separate event.

my 2 cents.

no brendan you missed the point, im not telling any one the final listing of events, that is just the list of event i will pick the final set from, i’d say it will be around 6 events max, and im just using the word ‘omnium’ as an over all description of the vibe for the day. i made no promises on what events i will or wont run. only people who get a say are people who help me set up the day, and sorry k o, no madison tooooo dangerous!!!

accept. i’d hate to think you expected me to be improper.

i think i had actually stopped using the word ‘ghey’ many years ago, not sure why it came out again. it was late. sorry brenno.

i did. choose well and be strong, dear genie.

It seems you and Brenno share this problem.

it’s not a problem, man. it’s a philosophical standpoint.

^ Please explain.

capitals are fascistic.
