So I picked this up for $250 from Tasmania. I know zero about the bike and I’m hoping someone with more knowledge about builders could help figure out what this actually is. Took some bad photos of lugs and decals that’ll hopefully gives some clues as to what it is. I was thinking it actually looked very similar to the Farleigh posted up the other days.
Has a very random parts list.
Frame + fork has been branded with gem cycles decals. Campy drop outs and fork ends. Has a decal with someones name on it that can been seen in photos.
Bars are cinelli as is stem (with some custom dodgy drilling). Shimano 600 headset.
SR saddle and post.
SR cranks and chainring (even has original SR chainring bolts). Campy bb. Izumi chain that has been hand painted by the looks of things.
Zeus pedals and SR toe clips.
Front hub is Shimano and the rear is hard to read but looks like Normandy (double sided track). Cogs are stamped made in England.
Can’t make out what the rims are but they are tubular and matching. (I assume road conversion).
Schwalbe montello rear tyre and tri pistrada 67 front.
I’ll just add what little info I know. The seller wasn’t the original owner of the bike. He said he bought it from Michael at a track sell off day. Gem Cycles was owned by George Edward Malley (G.E.M.) in the early 80s which then became McBains (1).
Meh couldn’t hurt to try flip for a profit when in need of money. But yeah it’s a pretty bad listing, very little cares. Anyone want a track bike for $250?
