Good frame repairer??

Found a nice old frame that i want to do up. theres some dings underneath on the chainstay near the BB. Anyone know a good builder/repairer? or fixed a similar thing themselves?..

what city?

If its a mild ‘ding’ you can sand it back and use Builders Bog to fill the dint. then sand back to the desired shape. then prime and repaint.

i guess that might be the easiest and cheapest option. I’ve done it before on an old frame and it came up perfect.

Although i guess it is a little dodgier than getting someone legit to do it.
Perhaps call Paconi if you are in melbourne?

If you’re in Brisbane, the guy at Ridgeways at Stafford told me he’s doing a frame building course this month. Will be cool to have him doing repairs and also building frames from scratch.

cheers
yep im in Melbs. The guys at abbotsford cycles thought maybe the same - bog and paint.
read somewhere about brazing with bronze to fill it? i feel like doing a good job to do the bike justice

i got a chainstay replaced at abbortsford cycles for $150. Seems to be pretty good tubing used too. Would definately recommend them

you could fill it with lead as well, thats the way they add detail to handmade aluminium car bodies, it goes on like butter. it would add some weight though…

I don’t know what the frame is made of but liquid lead can cause liquid metal embrittlement of higher strength steels (like cro mo, 531 etc) car panels are usuually low strength steel (lead is used as a filler on car bodies) and non structural.
If the dents are small fill them with braze
a MAPP torch and rods from bunnings cost me <$100 (there was a sale on though i think)
