Gumwall Tires

Yes!

On everything!

Gator’s shouldn’t be a benchmark in any sense … to me they signify someone who doesn’t know or care about how bikes ride.

To me they’re a benchmark for puncture protection while not riding like a complete turd. A turd, yes, but they still roll and are reasonably fast.

spizza, was more referring to price of gators rather then the ride itself. Ie $30-$40 is kinda what i want to be spending on a tire for a commuter!

I’ve got Vittoria Evo CX IIs on the Cinelli and they’re on sale at Bikebug for $74 each? They’re niiiiiiice

Edit - No, I have Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX II’s.

Luxury! I’m commuting on $10 zafiros at the moment. Made a decision to just go with cheap shit and use a tyre liner, seeing as anything with really good puncture protection rides like shit anyway.
And the best thing about commuting on shit tyres is that when you get on your good bike everything feels totally awesome.

What do you recommend for a puncture resistant commuting tyre out of interest?

Yeh, that was my intial choice (also have liner) but after seeing all the gumwall builds im hooked! i only commute a few times a week so aint like im going to go through a shitload of tires.

how about paselas? any good/bad comments? im guessing these would rate below grand bois, but price seems right for me

whats the price on grand bois anyway? im thinking blue label cerf

I’ve been using Panaracer Pasela’s (folding) on my CX in 32’s and have had no problems. I can’t remember if they’re the TG ones or not. Run them between 60-80psi (depending on laziness), no punctures in over a year and commute on them pretty much daily, plus do road / gravel / grass etc. Will definitely buy another set.

EDIT: I got them for about $30-40 in the US a couple of years ago.

The tourguard Paselas have been good to me. No punctures in a year.

I had the TG pasela’s on my fixie bike. Ride good. Make good sound when skidding.

Zero punctures in over 12 months.

OK, so paselas are sounding good.

Pasela’s are the fucking bomb.

…and generally quite affordable on eBay

Bikewagoncat have been good to me with them. 32s/35s have been great for me. My mate had some 23s that had a sidewall go. This is the only story of this I’ve heard, although I might’ve read something similar on CTC UK ages ago.

I have a friend who runs my old 25’s (after I used them for a year on a single speed).

The sidewall was the first to go, but they had a lot of use before that - to the point I’d probably think that a side-wall injury would make almost all tubes fail - especially gumwalls.

Got Pasela TG 35s on my Crosscheck and rate em too.

Worth mentioning that they are big. Noticeably bigger than the Schwable Kojaks which I was running previously.

Just checked. They’re the TG ones. Will definitely buy again.

looks like nomads come in a 28c, but i think 28s are gonna be a tad big for the frame

edit

actually, some googling it seems it may fit after all. sweeet

Yeah, they run pretty small apparently.

I just ordered some 35s to fit on a bike that won’t fit 35 Paselas. Apparently it’ll work.
