thanks for the info pete, i do like the tread of the nomads a little more.
28mm nomads on american classic 101 (21mm internal) = 30mm after a week of stretching.
35/45 nomads often measure 32/42mm, but 28 are more true to size.
Well there you go.
I’ll feedback with my measured sizes once they’re fitted.
How do they go for you puncture wise Blakey?
fyi, CRC have 10% of tyres “tyre10” - pair of 25c paselas come to $68.38 with free postage.
Bummer, no 27" option at CRC. My LBS said they can get me a pair of 27" Pasela TG for not much more than that though. With the way everyone bangs on about them, looking forward to getting my hands on them.
forget tourguard, just get regular.
unless you’re riding over goatheads and stuff.
Yeah, I’ve queried them on the TG or non-TG.
I heard they had to stop making TG, so they have PT as a replacement, which apparently differs from the TG only on some molecular level - whatever the hell that means.
Looks like the crc ones are defs non-tg, if the whiny complaints from a couple of the reviews are anything to go by.
…anyone a clue where I can get the wider Paselas (>30)? Doesnt seem that the regulars have them on offer.
Btw, anyone ever ridden Bruce Gordons RocknRoad?
Aspire Velotech stocks the full range.
Also try the seller extremebikeandsport on Amazon - one of the few US Amazon suppliers that ships to Aus for decent rates - they stock almost everything.
The man with the magic hands loves them. And he rides more than most of us.
Be warned, they’re pretty big. Will fit a cross check, won’t fit many carbon forks / tight stays.
Not sure if these have been mentioned, but Specialized Fatboys used to be pretty sick as 26" slicks, now they are doing them as 700c gumwalls. Not yet available in AUS but will be interesting to see how they fare in pricing compared to others available at present.
I’m personally a little confused/annoyed by the re-use of the ‘Fatboy’ branding which has now been used across their older BMX bike models, 26"/700c tyres and now Fatbikes, hmmm.
Stop suing yourself, stop suing yourself!
Also Harley Davidson
Internet reports indicate that the fatboy (tyre) sits under the Resist Nomad in the quality ranking. Shopbro pricing might still sway purchasing decisions.
Thanks! Velotech ships them for $18, pretty fair I guess.
RockNRoad or Paselas is the question now. They are supposed to go on a Cross Check which is mainly used for everything non-paved. They do need to run on the street acceptable though and I’m not quite sure if the RockNRoad are a bit overkill. I do like their width though.
Who’s the man with the magic hands btw?
Scooter / Impact Massage.
The centre rolls pretty well on tarmac.
if you want the width resist nomads could be an option at 40~42mm depending on rims.
I used 32mm wire bead 27" paselas on gravel a while ago and the nomads feel similar in terms of grip AFIR (there’s not that much tread on a pasela) nomadz are moar cushy though cos extra volumez.
depends on what non-paved means i’m happy with nomadz on reasonable quality fire roads, never used on single track, wet, slippery or muddy fire roads though so no experiance.
i find nomads pretty amaze on road, set some strava PRs at fairly ludicrous speeds (for me and the bike used anyway) when tail winds take aero drag out of the equation.
Might even be less - they add on about $5 insurance by default, but you can remove it.
As far as I’m aware the Resist Nomad is lighter and more supple at lower pressures etc. and I can personally vouch for how rad they are (super rad infact) although the Fatboy has a puncture resistant layer which may be good for commuting etc. but would obviously add weight/feel a little less lively.
45c Nomads in my CX bike completely transformed how well it rode and kinda blew me away tbh.
Another phat slic to consider is the vittoria voyager hyper (was randonneur hyper). Folding bead, some puncture protection, nice compound, 32/35/38mm (pretty true to size). ~$60/ea from the UK. black/reflecto wall though, no gum.
