Hetchins Super Special c1950

After buying it in 2007, the repairs / repaint taking close on 2 years now, mostly due to decal issues and Joe being a perfectionist, I’m going to take possession in a week.

It’s boxed up and waiting in Joe’s shed and I’ll be there on Sunday to pick it up.

Fiiiiinally.

going to come say hello whilst your in town?

It’s a flying visit and I’m on a tight schedule. Hoping to hit Cup Coffee Sat morning on the way to Currumbin, then brunch at Alibi Room on Sun though.

You’re heading to BrisVegas and only make mention of coffee and breakfast? :? :-o :expressionless:

Is you a 7th Day Adventist or sumtin? :stuck_out_tongue:

what happens on tour, stays on tour.
admit nothing, deny everything

ha !!

you know you’re in trouble if your girl reads these forums :stuck_out_tongue:

:expressionless: :? uh … speaking of which >>> Mrs. Spirito’s bike is getting upgraded to Campy for our Anniversary !!!

might need to reconsider brunch…alibi room is dead.

Yo Blakey, if i ain’t intruding on any special coffee times at cup i may swing by for a hello!

And yes Alibi is dead  going to become some shitty bar from all reports.

So close I can almost touch it…

Wow, how many years have you been waiting?!

That is a most impressive resto., stunning.
Worth the wait!

Are those Decals from Lloyds?
They look top notch, water slide or vanish?

Now to get if built up for the Roobaix.

Nice one Blakey, pure class right there.
Can’t wait to see it in the flesh.

I was there for the unveiling mid-Roubaix last night…

despite our (childish) remarks about building it with risers/aerospoke/etc blakey was very proud of it and with very good reason.

DT Decals are from SSSInk. Had two sets from H. Lloyds, one side was fine, one side went hazy when cleared over. ST & 531 are H. Lloyds.

If you want a no compromise, full attention to detail, high quality paintjob, Joe is definitely the one you want to speak to. To say nothing of his skill building in steel, aluminium, repairing carbon frames…

Now to build…

Really happy for you Blakey, looks great.

So Joe took how long to paint the frame? Worth it regardless…

Less painting time, more waiting for replacement decals. The SSSInk ones took forever and a day because they had to do another print run.

Found frame late 2007, took it to Joe mid-late 2008, finished late 2009.

The depth of shine is incredible, there’s a hell of a lot of coating and rubbing back that’s gone into this frame.

simply wow…cant wait for the final build pics

Yeah, he did the same with the Healing. It looks like it’s been dipped in glass. Must say that the head badge looks absolutely stunning, as does the rest of the frame. Good luck with the rest of the parts list.

manbau & spirito are helping me add to my Suntour parts cache:

Always happy to help a bruvva out. Woulda been easier with Campy as I’m usually well stocked  … but you like doing things the uneasy way
