info on this gios frameset?

hey guys
i spotted this gios torino frameset for sale and im fairly keen on getting it
but i thought id check out what u guys had to say about it first cuz i dont know too much about old track bikes

does anyone have any info on it?
and does anyone know how much it would be worth?

description says reynolds 351531 tubing with columbus forks
and thats it

thanks in advance!
pce

Firstly, it’s Gios (not Gios Torino)

2ndly, I don’t know of any Reynolds tubed Gios’ from that era (and I think you meant 531 rather than 351), I think most were built with Columbus tubing.

3rdly, the fork looks like a later addition and may not be original

Lastly, there’s not much detail in the pic, so it’s hard to tell.

new wallpaper

not advisable if you work for Macquarie Bank…

oh thanks spirito
ill try get some more detailed pics from the seller now

and would you say $400 is a decent price?
or is that a bit much?

thanks

and it wouldn’t be a Gios thread without mention of Roger de Vlaeminck

ok i got more pics
and the sticker on the seat tube says reynold 351 :S

if it’s in your size and its cheap… (under 400 with a head set and BB ) then jump on it…

if its dinged, no HS or BB and/or not your size and over $600 then no deal…

got any pics of the BB shell??

That’s not a Gios. It’s just got Gios decals. They had distinctive seat stay caps that were flattened and I’ve not seen any Gios’ of that era with curly head lugs. Again that isn’t a Gios fork … it doesn’t look original to the frame anyway.

Interestingly it has a Chesini head tube decal. That’s not much to go on as it might be just an added decal like the Gios, and otherwise most Chesini’s I’ve seen have pantographing or engraving elsewhere.

Neither Gios or Chesini used Reynolds tubing.

I’d be cautious and would prefer to see the frame in person. Notwithstanding, it might be a good frame and it does have a Campy headset which is a promising sign.
