Hi, I own a road bike conversion fixie and everytime i brake by skidding or try to do tail whips my chain comes off the chain ring. i watched a friend try and skid and from what i can tell the bike starts to break the chain gets loose. i tried tightening it by pulling the wheel further into the rear dropout but the problem keeps happening.
Try putting your leg over the bar when you skid as such
Chainline, Chain tension.
This is a common problem that probably everyone on this forum had at some point. The best way to fix the problem, and I know it sounds strange, is to put a condom over the rear drop outs and then put the wheel in. The rubber/latex helps the wheel stay in place.
Other forum members have had success with other methods, and I’d like to encourage them to post here.
Is there a Catholic alternative to San Estebans fix?
Also making sure that the wheelnuts are gripping onto bare metal rather than paint can help. Plus making sure they are tight.
Or
Buy a new bike.
Is there a Catholic alternative to San Estebans fix?
Abstain!
(From skidding)
I’d check chainline first, then make sure that the frame spacing matches the hub and that the dropouts are parallel.
Yes, ride as if you were going to attempt a skid…but at the last moment pull out.
Hahaha, but in all seriousness:
There is. The best thing to use if Catholic, is the intestine of a pig. Now, if you are muslim, the intestine of a jew works equally well.
bringing the lols
DA too, none of that ultegra, 105 or worse, campy shit.
What does a Jew use then?
^ Jesus’s intestine.
His foreskin
I have no humour to offer, only this: try using track nuts. Solid nuts wont do up tight enough without gouging your dropouts. Switched from solid to track nuts and havent had a wheel slip issue since.
What, is this thread from 2006 or something?
^true - only sollution: sell “fixie”… buy CX bike
Can’t be, no-one skidded in 2006.
