It's time... What is the F(ake) Moser?

Email sent to Ken Evans…

So Mal McPherson has been posting on BNA so I shot him a PM about the F(ake) Moser, thinking he might be able to shed some light on it maybe… Got this back today.

Hi Jolan. Certainly looks like one of ours but not built while Ken owned the business. The straight fork was something we started doing after 1987 for example. To give me a better idea on who may have actually built the frame close up pictures of the rear and front tips would help. Also if you take the front wheel out and stick your finger up underneath the fork crown into the steerer you should feel (or even plainly see) a steel pin the size of piece of timber nail poking through the inside. There were a few frames we didn’t pin in this way but it was our normal practice. In any case the tips are the are that give me the best idea. Cheers Mal.

The forks do have the pin. Going to shoot some pics of the tips today and see if he can help me out…

So if it is a McPherson are you gonna restore it get some McPherson decals for it too? Or is this just an academic enterprise?

(BTW I haven’t read the whole thread, so my apologies if you’ve already answered this.)

It doesn’t really need to be restored, but I’d like to know its history.

Any more info from Mal? his inbox must have gotten a workout when people realised it was him posting over at BNA

Not yet, but I haven’t had a chance to take photos of the track ends and fork ends.
