I have been looking at getting some knee warmers, but don’t know a heap about them.
What are some decent quality ones that don’t cost too much?
What should I look out for when buying them?

Brushed roobaix fabric in this weather. Santini, Nalini, Guessegi all have good ones, Pearl Izumi tend to be a bit thin. Descente and (I think) that Ground Effect mob from NZ have woolly looking ones. Look for silicone grippers top and bottom.
Personally, in this weather I prefer brushed roobaix bibs in 3/4 or longs. A bit of a hassle when you need to poo but they’ll help keep your kidneys warm.

Anything from your lbs that stretches over your knee. I don’t think it matters that much.
I’ve heard that they tend to fall down though, so either get full length leg warmers or 3/4 bib nicks maybe.
I have the PBK team ones and they are pretty good. I only ever wear them under my knicks so that tends to keep them in place.

check the usual cheap online stores… i know torpedo7 and cell had them (and the full leg warmers) for cheap a couple of times this winter.
groundeffect will always get my vote…
brushed roubaix is the business… you will want something fleecy as a backing to the lycra and a few of the ones you see around dont have that.
bikenow on kingsway have some liquigas arm and leg warmers in L and XL for cheap(ish) in their sale bin but i dont think they are fleece-backed.
